Love her, she's great in and outside of class! |

He was very nice and chill. This class is honestly easy it's about helping you figure out possible careers and stuff like that, but he had fun activities for us to do in class and allowed us to have conversations about different futures and topics we had in mind. If you're in carillon don't worry too much about this class especially if you have it with him. I will say I didn't understand the TA's grading sometimes but that's not on him but yeah easy class. |

He is a very nice professor who cares about his students. Honestly this class is pretty easy as long as you attend class and do the discussion posts. I don't think I really learned anything from this class, but if you have to take it, it isn't bad workload wise and he is a very nice professor. I would recommend him as a teacher if you are taking idea101! |

Shes a very nice person and i feel bad giving her a 2 but OH MY GOD DID SHE DRAG ON IDEA101. The class itself = stupid. and she made this stupid class hell by dragging it on until the very last minute. |

Very nice professor that understands that no one cares about the class. I started skipping class because the work is so useless and easy. Just make stuff up and you'll get an A. |

She is very nice and welcoming, clearly wants everyone to succeed and get a good grade. As long as you do the work and put in some effort you should get a 100% or close, it is all easy, but towards the end of the class it takes more time. She is the most organized out of all the idea teachers as far as I've heard. Would strongly recommend. |

Professor Tami is cheerful, excited, and invested in her student's success, even if she comes off as if she is teaching elementary school. The class, however, is truly infamous among Carillon students for how awful it is. On the first day, you attend a big lecture among carillon students, which for me was led by a narcissistic and disrespectful lady who would passive-aggressively announce "I'm waiting" whenever students started talking. Then for the next four weeks, you will attend Radical Health lectures, led by a TA, which basically "help" students adjust to campus. There is nothing to say about these other than that they were a massive waste of time. After these weeks you will arrive at the real class. They tell you on the first day that one of the missions of the class is to "navigate ambiguity", which is ironic, considering that it is ambiguous what the class is even about. It seemed to me like a class about helping students think of a career path, but it is truly vague. To get the most out of this class, treat it like a bad comedy, do the assignments, and run away with an easy A. Unfortunately, it is mandatory for all carillon students. |

Very nice professor. She seemed to care a lot about us and was very understanding. She graded fairly and the class wasn't a lot of work. To be honest, I still don't understand the point of the class, but it is a required class for Carillon students and an easy A+ if you take it with Camila. |

I think this may have been his first time teaching this course, but he did a decent job. The course is silly let's just admit it but if you just put in a bit of effort on the reflections and missions it's such an easy class. Yes, attending the classes is a bit annoying and tedious but they're very easy. Just try to get something out of it! He seems like a very nice man. |

I’m sure that Professor Krafft has good intentions, but I really don’t like the way she structures her class. It feels like a constant game of “gotcha”, especially her with abnormal deadlines and instant 50% lost if an assignment is even minutes late. She also comes off as very passive aggressive, especially in her assignment comments and responses to students. It’s a shame because IDEA101 definitely has the potential to be an engaging course, but it’s hard to take the content to heart when you are constantly frustrated by the instructor. |

IDEA101 is terribly long, boring, and unhelpful. However, Lorae tries to make the best of this class and is very easygoing. The class is basically a bunch of busywork, but Lorae grades leniently and does not care if you turn things in late. |

I agree with others that this class was essentially useless and that I didn't get anything out of it. We never actually needed the Carillon notebooks we were given, so I kept mine and didn't bring it to class. The activities we did were repetitive and we were forced to reflect on them each week which was annoying. Ms. Bennett was an okay professor, and she tried to make the class engaging, but it was clear that even she didn't care because she would often stumble over the words of the Slides presentations that were given to her (Meaning she hadn't even read them in advance) and she didn't bother to change or update our ELMS page at all, even though she was supposed to and we missed out on some parts of the class that we needed because of this. Overall, she was a nice person, but you could tell that she wasn't supposed to be teaching this class (She said herself that they needed a last-minute professor and she accepted). |

If you are taking her, you are probably taking IDEA101 as part of Carillon Communities. She is alright as a teacher. Nothing too great. She isn't really a professor, just a ResLife employees who helps students get off-campus housing. So don't expect anything too much. I think IDEA101 was one of the worst and most soul-sucking courses I have taken so far at UMD, because it really felt like complete nonsense and taught me nothing, and really felt like a waste of time. I even tried to drop it but it has an earlier drop deadline than usual so I was already past that and I didn't want a W for such a lame class. She is lenient with grading, and submissions, and all that stuff. Just that the class was so boring and useless and soul-sucking, I don't think I can completely fault her for that because it was just the nature of the course to be a waste of time. |

Let me just start by saying, IDEA101 is the most useless class you will ever take in the university. It is one credit and unnecessarily difficult for such a small reward. It claims to be a helpful class to help adjust to university life and plan your time but it is no where near as helpful as UNIV100. However, these professors take what they are given. Lorae is sweet, she's young and works on campus so this class is not her first priority, but she is cool. If you need help or an extension she is usually pretty lenient and she always asks how we are doing at the beginning of class. If you can take her section I recommend doing so, its the best you can get out this worthless class. |

Prof. Aidoo is very sweet and nice. Do the work like she ask and you will get the point. Miss it without permission and that's it for you. The question here is, is she a tough grader, I will personally say no (this is because I do all of my assignment on time and gets the grade). She is very understanding and will be nice if you ask but if you don't you are domed lol. |

If you have to take IDEA101 do it with a different professor. While she's nice she takes the class WAY too seriously and grades harshly taking points off of everyone's work (when you look at the average you can see the highest grade given and multiple times the highest was still not 100%). The class itself isn't hard but my class was the only one that not everyone had 100% in and every other one of my friends who had a different professor had 100% if they did all the work. She isn't mean but takes it too seriously and will hold you the whole time even though she will say she is going to let you out early. Choose a different professor if you can. |

I had her last semester, and she is incredible. She is very friendly and interactive with other students. Also, she is fast in responding to emails. I am actually applying for a peer mentor for this fall semester, hoping I could work with her real soon! DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!! |

This instructor is incredibly nice and super helpful. To be honest, this class stressed me out like crazy because coming up with super specific plans when you are an undecided major is a complete nightmare. However, Aspen met with me and actually listened to what I was saying and listened to my concerns, which feels so crazy and so welcoming after literally always being met with 'oh you're super smart, you'd be good at anything.' She provided me with numerous resources and always put in the effort to make her students feel involved and connected, especially when we were all isolated on Zoom university. My only complaints deal with the curriculum of the course itself, stuff that Aspen doesn't really have control over (e.g., super short time to do a lot of stuff in breakout rooms or boring mandatory guest lecturers (this stuff is assigned by the program I believe)). Overall, I would def recommend her!! Super sweet and a very chill professor |

By far the best professor I have had so far in college! Her number one priority is our well being. She asks us how we are doing every single class. IDEA101 may seem like a useless class but Erica makes the class engaging and fun. All assignments in the class are to beneficial to yourself! |
Brooke Smith
IDEA101 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 11/19/2020 |
Brooke is a really nice person and a great teacher. I never had to ask for an extension because this course is very light, but I'm sure she'd be happy to oblige if you needed one. IDEA101 in general helped me figure out what I want to do at Maryland so I would definitely say it is worth your time if you want to get different resources and plan out what types of things to do at UMD, and if you can take it with Brooke! |
