MATH107 Expecting a B Anonymous 07/09/2024 |
This was my first time taking 107 since I changed my major. Martinez is honestly a great instructor. We had group assignments, homeworks, small quizzes and then 2 midterms with a final. For a summer course it obviously has to be fast paced but as long as you complete all of the work and do somewhat good (showing improvement with each exam) you’re guaranteed to pass. He can be a bit of a slow/strict grader (usually on the homeworks) which places stress on everybody but make sure to ask questions, work with the people in your class to study, and remain in good standing (coming to class, turning things in on time and not being a jerk). He gives a generous curve at the end and honestly makes math the least stressful thing ever. Overall a great instructor and would 100% take him again if needed. |

Took him Fall 2024, kind of late on this but he was a good person and understanding. To make it more anonymous he understand my struggles and problems at home and definitely helped when you went to his office hours, 3 Midterms and a Final. Find is what you learned all semester, midterms are pretty ok #1 messed me up but 2 and 3 were better as they were small. |

Prof. Daberkow was great! She is very kind and caring (always willing to help with anything!), my only complaint would be that the class was boring, but I think that's to be expected of a math class. The class was fairly easy and the workload wasn't too heavy, I would highly recommend Professor Daberkow. |

Honestly he was a nice professor, hw and inclass were grades but prob like 5% of your grade. 3 midterms 1 final, final was EVERYTHING! if you passed final with a C you will be alright, for midterms and mini quizzes mathway going to be your bff. But as a person he is honestly very understanding but as a prof I mean it was his first time teaching so i get it. |

To be honest, taking this class gave me anxiety sometimes. This professor does not give you credit for class works or home work assignments. Although it seems that he cares for you to pass, the way he teaches this course is only for him to understand and he'll give you different formulas. he also teaches way too fast at times and when he uploads answers on canvas he'll sometimes put the wrong answers to get you confused. I recommend taking another professor. |

Julie Daberkow cares for her students. Grades are lenient and she does try to give points back where she can. 2 quiz grades are dropped as well. The class starts simple but quickly gets into things that I did not anticipate from the class. She does talk quietly, which makes it harder to focus. Along with this, there have been numerous incidents of her teaching us things wrong and then going back to redo them...gets confusing. She never checks homework and rarely covers attendance. Extra credit questions are rare. |

Prof Nuriely is so sweet. She genuinely cares so much about each of her students and encourages you to participate and ask questions. She makes the environment extremely welcoming, and I loved having her this semester. As for the material, all of it was really straightforward. There are 3 exams and a final, and the exams are exactly like the review sheet, they literally just change the numbers. The class structure was sometimes a little disorganized because all the announcements happened in class and were not posted, so make sure you have a friend in the class in case you miss something. If you're taking Math107 definitely take Prof Nuriely. Best math teacher I've had. |

Charlie is one of the best teachers I have had. He really wants all of his students to succeed. He is super approachable which makes it easier to ask questions or get help if needed. He is also very understanding and lenient, so if you email him about something 9 times out of 10 he will give you an extension or the help with whatever you need. The course is doesn't have a heavy workload at all, and the office hours are also extremely helpful. We have 3 midterms and a cumulative final, which seems like a lot, but from someone who is not a fan of math if you study then you are more than likely to do well on the exams. |

Easy class, easy work, it's pretty much like high school with a good professor. It's boring, but doable. |

Charlie is an amazing teacher, he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. As someone who struggles with math, I felt very supported in this class. His review sessions are great, and overall he did a good job helping us prepare for exams. Math classes can be brutal but Charlie put in the effort to make it as easy and painless as possible. |

I was struggling and so were many others in the class. Understandable given it was his first time teaching the class alone, (he is a grad student and was a TA), but it was very hard to learn from his teaching style. The course felt like it moved way too fast and was hard to keep track of the material and grasp the information. |

Mr. Wilson was one of the best professors I had my freshman year and was super helpful. He gave weekly homework, only checked them occasionally, would offer to go over hw questions we had trouble with, and had weekly Friday quizzes on 2-3 sections. He explained confusing wording in a simple way and helped the class visualize models when certain questions were difficult wording wise. He was always available outside class during office hours, and would go out of his way to meet with you through zoom if you couldn't make his in-person office hours. Super friendly and welcoming professor, 10/10 would recommend if you need your FSMA credit and want to actually learn in a safe/open environment!! |

If you need a math credit and want it to be easy, take this class. You can still pretty well if you don't show up except for the days where you have quizzes, and even then, she drops the lowest two scores. It can be pretty boring at times, however, that is not Professor's Daberkow's fault. |

As someone who dislikes math and has never been good at math, I found this course helpful! It was related to real-world scenarios which helped my understanding of the subject. She always thoroughly reviewed our assignments and gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Overall, a wonderful teacher & a very kind person! |

Easy course if you need a quick elective to pass the time or to satisfy a math credit. She will answer any questions you have and will give you extra points on quizzes at times just for trying. |

Do not take her. Her teaching style is hard to understand sometimes. Also, she is not very understanding if you are sick and miss a quiz. All she does if stuff from the textbook that you can do on your own. |

Really easy class. She does a good job explaining concepts, and really helps her students. If you need a really easy math class, take this. |

Very hard teaching style not a lot of flexibility when it comes to each students learning style. Problem is read from textbook and then done on board. Not a lot of explanation of terms or vocab. |

Nice guy, really easy grade. He doesn't grade homework so it is up to you if you want to do it. He really just wants everybody to do a good job |
