Professor Hill is my favorite professor I've had over the course of my college experience. Her lectures were interesting and engaging and she is always willing to explain the concepts discussed in class further or help you if you're struggling. The course was a decent amount of work, but the assignments felt very relevant and reasonable (not busy work at all). Overall I would absolutely recommend this course and professor. |

I got a bone to pick with one of the TAs in this class! It's not fair that your grade is dependent on which TA you have grading your work, which I know is expected a little bit in college but not to this extent. However, yes, the class is an easy A if that's what you're looking for. No need to go to lecture, everything can be done online including exams. I didn't feel like I walked out with any valuable knowledge so if you actually want to learn something useful I would choose another class. Some of the content was ridiculous, it was impossible to find reliable, scholarly, peer-reviewed sources and I felt like we were going to start learning about crystals and spirits next. |

Professor Hill is so sweet, kind, and compassionate! She's also super smart too so definitely go to her office hours if you need help. She is very understanding and gives extensions if you ask 24 hours before an assignment is due. There are three async exams and she provides study guides for each one (and is open note). The exams questions are all conceptualization, so you can't just memorize vocab and stuff. She posts all lectures, all PowerPoints, and even the class recording for those who miss class or just want to review the content again. We had discussion on Fridays and they weren't bad. They were a mixture of discussion boards and case studies. However, after the first month or so, the Friday assignments were just case studies and no longer discussions. The TA's in the class were nice but graded sorta harsh and I was not the only one who felt this way. They were sweet, though, and just wanted us to learn and improve our papers. Towards the end of the semester, we had to turn in a major character conceptualization paper that had a page limit of 10. Overall, it was a very interesting and fun class. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking about becoming a counselor or therapist in the future. |

Dr Kearney is super nice. shes a great lecturer - she puts effort into her slides, so theyre engaging, not too wordy, but also not like they don't have enough info. she explains concepts really thoroughly and is always willing to elaborate if you're confused. lecture slides and recordings are posted, making attending lecture basically optional. shes also just really kind and sweet and gentle hearted, and also funny. I honestly love her. The readings are also not that bad - most readings were about 10 pages. we also had frequent writing assignments where we applied the theories we learned in class to a case study; this format is honestly really helpful and a good way to get students to practice what theyre learning. exams were open note, online, remote - but i would recommend studying still because all questions are application based, so only looking at your notes during the exam might not be as helpful as you want. with that being said, there are some drawbacks.... like most people are saying, the grading you get on the assignments are REALLY inconsistent, and is based entirely on which TA grades your work. I was fortunate enough that most of my assignments were graded by the UTA, who seemed more lenient - and this is probably why i'll end up with (hopefully) an A in the course. But the graduate TA.... he grades so harshly. He gave me a 25/35 (a C) on a discussion post assignment. literally a discussion post assignment. and it wasnt even warranted - like I answered all the prompts and did well, he was just so nitpicky. He seems like a decent guy who genuinely just wants his students to improve, but he grades as if were in grad school. we are not in grad school sir. he would also take off points and be like "idk really know what you mean here, could use more elaboration" but like thats what the rest of the paragraph is for.... like just read the rest of it sir i do actually explain it. its really not fair to play with students grades like that. so sad to see that this is a consistent problem in this course |

1. You don't need to go to lecture, so that's cool. 2. I learned nothing. 3. The grading is super unfair. One of the TAs throws everyone a 100% and one of them gives everyone a 70-80%. It doesn't really matter what you turn in, so I stopped trying halfway through the semester (but my grade never changed :P). 4. Professor Kearney is nice. |

This class is structured well-it consists of 2 in person lectures a week, a weekly discussion board on Fridays, and open note, online exams. Her lectures are spaced out well and she leaves time in between topics to allow for group discussion in our tables, which is really nice and insightful for applying theories we've learned. Dr. Hill seems like a young and fairly new professor, but she knows what she is doing and it shows in her lectures and teaching style. I have learned a lot from this class that will be extremely useful for me in my future psychology career. |

I have had Dr. Kearney for PSYC 354 and 336, but nothing was as god awful as this course was. Before I get into the negative, the class itself (content and lecture) were genuinely important and engaging. I believe Dr. K is a fabulous lecturer and is good at explaining topics well. This is where the positives end. Literally the most inconsistent grading I have ever experienced due to there being 3 TAs that never graded similarly. Because of this, I would do well on an assignment, and then fail the second version of the assignment the following week because 2 different TAs graded it. I emailed to complain about this and was told that the TAs mistakes in grading would even out due to all 3 of them grading my papers. What ??? like actually what ?? It was just so bizarre to mess with my grade and class I pay for like that. How about the TAs are actually competent?? The TAs also never were open to critique or questions, and remained defensive with an atittude. Even when half the class would email to complain, they did not care and continued to be horrible graders. What made it more frustrating is that Dr. K did not seem to care AT ALL. |

Everyone that gave 5 starts must be white. As a counseling psychology professor she was not understanding and almost pushed me to my limit. I had to explain my entire life story just for a 6 point assignment. If you take her be careful of the TA’s as well as they gave me different responses on everything. I thought I was going to get an A- in the class and ended with a B because of the final paper I was told I did well on by a TA but received a D. Many of my other colored friends had problems with her as well… If I was a sally or emily maybe my problems would have been taken more serious. |

I love her, she is always accommodating and takes student feedback into consideration. She's very sweet and the class is incredibly interesting. If you go over her mini-lectures and are able to apply all the concepts you are all set for the exams. She gives helpful examples of everything we learn as it is a very application-based class. |

The class was really informative about counseling psychology and you could tell that Dr. Prosser knew what she was talking about. However, I felt that there were too many assignments and readings in the class compared to how much we were actually being taught. Some of the assignments were confusing and, though she didn’t grade very harshly, they were a lot more challenging than they should’ve been. The class didn’t have a traditional lecture style which made some of the content more confusing. I didn’t dislike the class nor the professor but many improvements could be made. |

A good class in general to explore the field of counseling psychology and the many approaches and theories that span from it. Gives you various of ideas for grad school but Dr. Prosser assigns a large number amount of assignment that is very tedious. She always says that you shouldn't take more than an hour on her assignments and discussion boards but the way she designs the assignments and required materials you need to read are just way too damn long. Similar to her case conceptualizations, I understand her whole philosophy of "if you can't explain it in a few pages, then you probably don't have a good understanding of the prompt" but there is so much that she wants students to address that you sacrifice details in some of your statements and you'd see in your grade reports she would often point out "Could've been more in depth or have sources to back up this" which is completely impossible given her 3-4 page requirement. Other than these factors, she is a decent professor. It's just this class has a lot more workload than you expected. |

Professor Iwamoto really cares about his students and offers advice for graduate school. That being said, the class itself was poorly structured. The first half of the semester was relatively easy with a couple of writing assignments and a midterm, but the second half of the semester involved having writing assignments almost every week, finishing a group presentation project, and the final exam. It's definitely doable, but takes a lot of time management. His rubrics for long essays and the group presentation were a little vague and confusing, but he does offer 2% extra credit. |

Interestingly enough, my favorite part about this class was the end of the year paper we had to write! The paper combined all the information we learned that semester in a fun way! Dr. Naz is a great teacher! She always double checks with her students to make sure everyone understands her teachings. |

Naz is the best professor in the psychology department. She is friendly, intelligent, engaging, and a great professor. Her classes are informative but not too heavy on the workload. Take a class with her! |
