LOVED this class. I know he's had some negative reviews on other platforms about his somewhat unrelated rants, but honestly, I enjoyed them. Even when he was going off on a bit of a tangent, it was still weirdly interesting. Attendance is graded and technically mandatory, but you'll find yourself wanting to show up anyway :). Most of the classes he is just showing interesting clips, and there are no note sheets to fill, you just take everything in, which is a breath of fresh air. He has a few things for you to read and watch outside of class, but he makes it all free, which is super considerate to us college students. There's no technology in class, but that's fine because there aren't any notes to take, which is nice. If you are even mildly interested in art or controversial subjects, I would highly recommend this class. |

One of the most insightful classes I've taken, you really learn a lot. Work load is not bad at all. Just a few of short 300+ word essays and 1-3 quizzes. |

I took the class over the winter at it was very fun. There is almost no engagement with the professor; he provides you with the films and readings (12 required films and each film has about 30 minutes to an hour's worth of reading), and the class is laid out very clearly. You have to write three papers total in the course, about 5 pages double spaced, so the workload was not difficult. He was good about providing feedback for papers and student questions, but the class is asynchronous and won't send any extra work. The films were good, and there's ample material on the internet to help you analyze them further. |
