These reviews don't do him justice. He is engaging and if you pay attention and take notes in class you will do just fine. |

She is a good lecturer, however, I have heard from my peers that they don't have nearly as much work each week for the same class. There are multiple essays each week that make up such a small portion of your grade. |

This guy is the most repulsing person I have ever had the displeasure of coming across in my life. Has this odd superiority complex, yet is a total weirdo. Puts on awful music at full blast at 9AM that pisses everyone off. Made the class watch a twilight make-out scene in class today and said "oh yeah were watching the whole thing" and tried to twist it as part of the lesson. As if it wasn't already a bit weird and uncomfortable, he had to make it worse. It's so bad I think I am going to just sacrifice my participation grade. I am not alone though I notice more empty seats every day. Apparently he's an ass with grading too, though its too early for me to say personally. Avoid this guy at all costs if you do not want to hate your life for a few hours a week. |

Funniest and most caring guy ever at the smith school. even though the exams were pretty hard he does a pretty well job preparing you. he gets everyone engaged and participating during class. even though he uses up the whole 2 hours and 45 minutes of class he gives us plenty of breaks. He is also very understanding so highly recommend him over the other sections which are all phd studnets who lack real world experience like him. His famous saying "self awareness is the breakfast of champions" |

Understanding, friendly, and approachable professor. Class wasn't too difficult. Be willing to collaborate with classmates and speak up in the class. Work was light in the class. |

Great guy. But do not take his class if you want to learn. I learned very little and his classes were pretty boring. He was nice and cares a lot about his students. Very genuine guy. But there was a lot of reading (which probably isn't necessary). You can skim and be fine. There was one midterm and a final which were pretty decent. Just know the terminology. He lets you bring a cheat sheet for exams but there is a lot of terms to put on there so you have to know some of it. Not a really hard class. |

Super easy class but also the most boring class I’ve ever taken. Attendance is mandatory even though you could skip every lecture and still pass. |

Dr. Liao is objectively good at teaching. I did enjoy the connections she made and some of the real life applications. However, the class itself is not very useful and she doesn’t do much to prove otherwise. The only reason to attend class is for the participation points, which are so annoying to get because she basically handed us a sheet of paper and made us write answers to stupid videos. The first midterm was open notes and open book but then she randomly made the final closed book to prevent cheating??? No real reason just “to avoid the use of chat gpt”. This may be a nonissue but I think it’s ridiculous to completely change the format of your exam two weeks before the final. The text book is the most boring read ever. That’s not her fault but she makes her questions so intensive that you have to suffer through the reading. The class is just unnecessary and I feel like I am leaving the class having learned almost nothing of substance. |

Professor Marr is very well equipped to prepare an engaging lecture and keeps the class interested, but his need to be "in" with the students is incredibly odd. He is condescending to specific groups of people and always has an excuse for when he makes a clerical error. He is one of the only 364 teachers that grades so harshly and uses the entire 75 minutes for lecture. The TA sat in the back of the class, but is supposed to mark participation every single time you speak per class, and this ends up being a good chunk of your overall grade. If he does not learn your name in the first few weeks, he will not address you by name and the TA will not count your participation. Also 9 days before our final exam when asked about the exam structure he said he had not written the exam yet and does not know how he plans to. He attributed this to "being incredibly swamped with grading." The TA graded every assignment from group project deliverables, weekly assignments, and exams..... A walking excuse for all of the short comings he has no care to improve. Lastly, during the course he brought up how much money he makes multiple times. |

I wanted to leave a note to address a few of the more negative things about Professor Liao. For most if not all BMGT 364 sections, the entire grading is done by the TAs. Prof. Liao has been incredibly fast to answer myself and my teammates on any questions we have and is always very understanding about excusing students from class. 364 is a 100 level skilled class disguised as an upper level requirement. All you need to do is show up to class, do the in-class participation assignments, and make sure to do the weekly assignments. Exams are multiple choice with a cheat sheet. If you're enrolled in Smith to learn about business concepts and not to just float by, I highly recommend taking Hui Liao. |

Best professor I've ever had. He was so nice, caring, and funny and really explained the material well. The lectures were engaging and easy to understand and the exams were directly related to them. He was super easy to talk to and the assignments were graded fairly. I highly recommend having him as a professor. |

I loved Professor Thomason's teaching style. It was engaging, friendly, and educational. He brings a lot of his personal experiences to class, which is exactly what professors in the business school should be doing. Each story he tells provides examples of the textbook content or serves to help students' professional journey in some way. He also tells you exactly which parts of the textbook are important, which was super useful for studying for quizzes and exams. The group project was super straightforward, the at-home quizzes weren't bad at all (just a little time-consuming), and the exams were fine if you read the textbook. There were also some weekly writing assignments which were pretty easy and fun grade-boosters. |

Do not take this class. He's a nice guy but his structure made this class intolerable. Exams are based off a textbook completely different from the one in the syllabus. Took forever to grade assignments, and provided almost no feedback on the major group project. Doesn't matter if there are cool examples in class/music, the way this course was organized sucked. |

BMGT364 Expecting a B+ weewoo1 12/21/2023 |
THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD IN SMITH. Marr's class makes a relatively easy course much more difficult than it needs to be, filling it with statistical data that we talk about for 2 seconds and then referring to it on an exam, talking about music, and watching long movie clips and trying to relate it to the class. Marr is also not very responsive at the end of the semester and seems to pull grades out of his ass. Avoid him at all costs if you want to keep your GPA from taking a hit from a BS smith course. |

BMGT364 Anonymous 12/18/2023 |
This course consumed most of my weekly schedule. It involves tedious and irrelevant busy work tasks. Attendance and participation carry substantial weight, and the workload comprises numerous assignments and projects. We were tasked with writing papers, extensive group projects, exams, and daily hours of assignments, even on Thanksgiving. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone aiming for an effortless 'A'. Disregard reviews rating it above 2 stars, as they are not truthful. While the instructor might come off as kind and understanding, he talks down to his students and acts as if we are in elementary school. |

Way too much busy work. Had 7 assignments due one sunday, and there is no direction given for the group project. Nice lectures but the work doesn't match up well and seems unnecessary. |

I'm surprised this class is required for everyone?? in the Business school. The content is really easy, honestly easier than my AP Psychology class, but there is way too many assignments. There are at least 3-5 assignments weekly on top of a semester-long group project. Weekly quiz, reflection, reading assignment, personality test, etc. I don't like how participation is required and the TA checks off your name if you participate. I raised my hand like once a week so I didn't get that many participation points. I would rather have small group discussions or online discussion posts. The quizzes are supposed to be easy but sometimes the wording is confusing. She's very excited about the material and wants everyone to participate but the material is just not that interesting to most people. She's good at lecturing and explaining concepts. Also doesn't let you take notes on a laptop, notebook only. |

Awesome professor, you will really enjoy his class, applies real world examples to concepts instead of reading through slides. Please take him, you won't regret it! As long as you participate and put in effort you will get a good grade regardless of doing well on the exam. |

took her spring 2023. absolutely terrible. So unorganized, dumb assignments that teach nothing, exams that are way harder than they need to be. Does not know Jack about the course and relies on the TA for EVERYTHING. I did not know a single person who enjoyed this class. she promised a curve which she never delivered, because "we didn't need it". She told us a 93 was an A, but I found out AFTER grades were due, it was an A-. Don't listen to her promises. She talks more about herself and her family than teaches the course. You HAVE to participate at least once a class period, which is incredibly unnecessary. Just terrible. |

The lecture is not useful to go to and will not help for the exam, but you have to go for class participation. You will get a 5/10 each week whether you attend lectures or not. You need to actually raise your hand and participate a lot to get a 10/10, raise your hand once you will maybe get a 8/10. Exams are based mostly on textbooks. She said she would curve the class and then never did in the end. An A is a 94, not a 93 which is absurd. She relies on her TA for everything. She has a difficult time backing her own answers when refuting why my exam answer is correct and explaining my reasoning. Take it with a different professor. |

Professor Liao is very sweet and tries to make the class engaging but the course itself is pointless. It is all common sense with a lot of unnecessary busy work. There was only a midterm and final and she allowed a cheat sheet for both. The TA graded pretty easily and the exams weren't weighted much at all so I basically maintained over 98% the entire semester. |

Very nice and personable, but it is clear that she did not make the syllabus for this course because she never knows the answers to anything regarding deadlines, assignments, grades, etc. Everything was always “I’ll get back to you”. Assignments are generally easy but test are unnecessarily very difficult and averages on each one was in the 70s. If possible, take someone else for this course. |

Cannot recommend her enough. For her first time teaching, she did a phenomenal job. Even though there were kinks to work out at first, she was always receptive to feedback and truly does her best to create an environment suitable for learning. The class is a lot of busy work, but not too bad if you space it out. Exams were fair and for the most part reflects what was covered during class. Overall, I had a good time and I’m confident that she will go on to be a great professor! |

First semester at smith and she was probably my favorite professor. She gave good constructive feedback that was timely enough to apply. Overall easy grader, but a lot of writing assignments. The writing assignments were fairly easy though. In class there was a lot of group work, and lectures were actually engaging. Not a boring professor at least. |

She is such a great teacher! She is so understanding and makes the class so manageable. We usually ended class early and every Wednesday was discussion. Yasha is a young aspiring professor. She takes input from her students and emphasizes communication and clarity. She really cares about the class and does not want anyone to do poorly. She asks for lots of feedback from her students and is willing to change. I think she is still figuring out exactly how she wants to run her class but is transparent in the process. Upon request of the class she made one of the midterms at home. She strongly values class participation, while some may find this challenging it is not that difficult. She lessened the participation requirements after listening to the class further cementing her leniency. Overall it can be seen in Canvas that she grades fairly easily. She really cares about learning the theories in the course and applying them. Keep this in mind and be present in class, and this class won't be a problem. |

BMGT364 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/06/2023 |
Professor Spriha is an extremely hardworking and dedicated professor to her students and coursework. She very often takes and encourages class feedback and adjusts her course as necessary. Other reviews claim that she does not keep track of participation, when, in fact, she will rewatch lecture recordings in order to give full participation retroactively if she notices that you do not have full participation points to make sure that she has not missed anything. Her teaching style is highly engaging and still very easy to follow and her assessments are reflective of course content and the lectures in class. There is a group project that has minimal requirements and is easy points as long as you do the bare minimum, as it is, for the most part, graded on completion. All in all, Professor Spriha is one of the best professors I have had at the Smith school because you can see how much she truly cares about her students and the class. She goes to great lengths to make sure that everyone is doing well and learning and is also very easy to talk to outside of class if you have any issues with anything at all. |

BMGT364 Expecting an A- Anonymous 03/28/2023 |
I would not at all recommend you take Professor Spriha. This is one of the most disorganized classes I have taken. Class participation is a large part of your grade but her system to keep track of it is beyond mediocre; be prepared to not receive full participation because she cannot keep track of it. There is a group project throughout the semester which has minimal instructions. There is no clarification of requirements for the project and almost seems like a free for all. She has a very odd teaching style which I never want to be a part of again along with many other students who have said the same thing. I highly recommend going with another professor as taking her class will only cause you headaches and stress |

BMGT364 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 01/24/2023 |
Had him for BMGT364 over the winter semester. For a 3 week accelerated course, we had like 40 assignments which is a crap ton but students know this when signing up for a winter course. With that being said, none of the work was really that hard just tedious and took hours to complete or write up. The quizzes were hard but we had multiple attempts to get A's o them. The only things that were somewhat difficult were the midterm and final. The midterm was a case study in that we wrote a response. The final was a timed lock down browser multiple choice exam. The grading is designed for you to have an A and the only way you don't is if you struggle on the final and drop to an A- or B+. He is super interesting and good at communicating. Loved this prof and looking forward to taking him for BMGT495. |

I took the class over the winter, there are a lot of assignments and group work, but none are incredibly challenging. The lectures are tedious, and most of the information comes from the book, so read the chapters, and you'll be set. The final was hard and requires a lockdown browser, but there are enough assignments that your grade can still recover if you do poorly. One of the better BMGT classes to take over winter, and Thomason is a very kind professor and is always trying to engage his students. Talk in class! |

BMGT364 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/25/2022 |
In short, I would not recommend this professor. For further detail, she has a TA do all of the correspondence, absence excusing, and grading. Students should not have divulge personal reasons for absence to a fellow student (TA). On top of that, the TA was a bit of a picky grader. You have to jump through hoops if you miss class because there are a lot of participation points in attendance. The amount of points per class appears to be arbitrarily applied. Concepts that are surface-level covered for a paragraph or two in the textbook will pop up in quizzes and exams requiring you to apply the information in deeper concepts than you were taught, so they don't make sense. For a low level class, there are too many assignments and too much application needed. She seems very nice in class and tries to be engaging. No so much in virtual correspondence, but that may just be because it's virtual. She speaks pretty quietly so it's hard to pay attention. Final exam prep is a joke. One class was labeled as a review class, and all she did was hand out a printed piece of paper with the chapter objectives on it and told us when the exam was. No review, no specific material to cover, except to tell us the final would cover the entire textbook (which has an enormous of subjects, concepts, subconcepts, rules, applications, and terms similar to others that mixing up would make you wrong). Out of a class of over a hundred, where 90% of the questions were multiple choice not a single student even got a 90. Even though you could have a sheet of notes. That's not a student problem. She seems really knowledgeable on the subject matter, but may be more a professional than a teacher. You can get an A in this class. But you will hate the process. |

I can see why he does have positive reviews as i liked him through most of the semester. Although, he says he prepares you for tests and then the whole class bombs them. also, he gives extra written in-person exams that the other profs don’t give. he harps on looking out for us but at the end of the semester i question it a little bit. |

Wonderful Professor. She actually understands what being a college student is and thus designs her class appropriately. There are a lot of busy work assignments but they’re not hard and actually do help teach the material. Plus it helps push your grade up if you do them. Saw that this review was super off so I had to write one. Specifically took another one of his classes after my first experience, above everything else he cares for his students. This professor is literally so unfair. She came in as our new professor when our old one had to leave and made us do her final exam that she gives to the classes that she teaches for a whole semester (she came in two weeks before the end of the semester). This teacher was very unaccommodating to the needs of the students, and gave reading exams every day for the first 8 minutes of class. He would rush lectures and would not meet up with students if they were struggling. Group projects we graded extremely low, and he would not realize any mistake as his own but rather blame the students. I scored an A on every exam but still got a B in the class. Professor Gebhardt: *An expert in the course material *Not fit to be a professor *Requires attendance, prohibits laptops and other electronics *Rude to students that seek clarification *Hard to understand *Mind-numbingly boring Please save this course for another semester if you have to, but do not take it with Gebhardt. This course was such a depressing part of my day and I wish no other student would have to suffer through this. |

One of the worst professors I've had in the Business School. She was unprofessional and seemed cynical. She does not make the exam for 364, so did not know what to tell the class what to study for. She ended up telling us to review the powerpoints primarily, meanwhile nearly the entire exam was from the textbook -- which she never mentioned once in class. |

I'm not sure why Professor Langa gets a bad wrap. In my opinion, she is a very energetic professor, does a good job of keeping students involved, and actually has a sense of humor unlike many other professors. I took the 7pm section for 364, so some days I was pretty burned out. However, Langa's personality did help me make it through those classes. I think a lot of professors who teach 364 get a bad wrap because many students see the material as common knowledge and think they can coast through the course. However, you do need to stay current on the reading to do well. Taking very detailed notes is not required but you do need to follow along in class because some of the material covered is not in the book. The exams are somewhat difficult (about 60% multiple choice and 40% fill in the blank/short essay.) There is a good amount of material to remember and you don't get a cheat sheet. So give yourself ample time to study. There are quite a few assignments outside of the class but they are pretty easy (just make sure to know the due dates and submit on time.) The group project is very extensive and requires a good amount of work and effort. Not the biggest fan of this because the groups are randomly assigned and you can get stuck with someone who won't pull their weight. |

He is one of the most disorganized professors ever. His expectations for assignments were not clear, he would forget when they were due, and then expect you to have them. His exams were completely random and pretty impossible to study for. There was a huge spread on all of the exams because your grade was just random chance. The only positive thing I can say about the class is that it wasn't too much work. The exams were multiple choice, there were a few short written assignments, and one group project throughout the semester. |

Coomber is pretty cool. The class is kind of boring but that is not her fault. She made a three-hour night class pretty fun and interactive so I give her credit for that. She loves to hang out with students as well. She bought us pizza on the night of the election while we watched the results. She is fun and she cares about all of her students. Its too bad 364 has so many sections and teachers so it has to be so standardized. |

You have to really feel bad for this guy. He's truly an amazing person, who comes into class every day and gives us these inspiring messages and stories from his life experience. It's really a very enjoyable experience -- until you get to the graded assignments. The Management Department is the actual professor of the class. They decide what assignments to give, what questions should go on the test, how the syllabus and grading works... They basically tell the professors what to do, and the professors have no choice but to follow. Because of this, the class: 1) Is out of 563 points. Yeah, you heard me. Try calculating your grades in this *****. Hint: you can't. 2) Is based entirely on the slides, which are usually not based on the book. Which is fine, but Suarez knows as well as we all do that the slides don't impart actual valuable information, so he doesn't bother teaching them. 3) Has an exam written to include questions based on class discussions that each class was supposed to have, whether or not the classes had the discussions. 4) Includes ridiculous assignments with no clear guidance, no clear grading scheme, and no method to question grades received. 5) Takes attendance in every lecture. 6) Doesn't teach you anything really valuable. Everyone has to take 364, which sucks. But don't take it with Suarez; he's a nice guy, but isn't actually a professor. |

BMGT364 Expecting a C Anonymous 04/10/2012 |
Please do not take BMGT364 with this man. While he is a nice guy, he is not very good at teaching and often gets off topic, trying to give motivational speeches about why we were accepted into the business school and how we should want to learn. If you think that this will be easy because he give 93% A's, that is for his engineering seminars and very high level business courses, not 364. This is the kind of class where the disorganization and ambiguity of the teacher works against the students. He often does not notify us when certain"in-class assignments" are do, as well as different case write-ups. He calls them in-class assignments, but he says to finish them before class and turn them in at the beginning class. And if you don't turn one of these in, you're SOL, because he accepts nothing late for a portion of the grade. If it is late, it doesn't get graded and you get a zero. His tests are also pretty difficult. The short answer/essay portion is rather straightforward and predictable, but the multiple choice answers can sometimes come from nowhere and often have more than one answer. I think I am going to get a C in this class, and I can honestly say that it is not my fault. I studied for the first exam for about two hours, thinking that the material was basically common sense (it is), but he found a way to make it difficult. I studied for the second exam for six hours, and walked out of it feeling negligibly better than after the first one. All in all, Jose is a great guy and his heart is in the right place, but his disorganization and poorly written tests ultimately hurt the students. |

Despite what other comments say here, I actually enjoyed this class. I didn't find the material to be all that hard- you do have to study to do well on the tests though. You have to be able to take it seriously. I didn't find her biased, since there was like one kid who talked and the rest of us chilled for the majority of class. My only problems with the class was the group that I was in for our group project, but that's not her fault. I wished that she would have giving us a little more direction with our group assignments, but I feel this was probably part of the learning process. If you have Langa next semester, don't worry about it too much. You will be fine!! Plus, those extra out of class assignments meant that we got days off from class. |

I hated this class so much. The amount of material on the exams was ridiculous, making the averages much lower than a Smith CORE should be. The group projects were stupid and we had no idea how to do them due to her complete lack of instruction. This class was so frusturating the entire semester. I think half of my hatred came from the actual class material itself, and the other half from how annoying/incompetent Langa is. All she did was talk about herself and her problems, and unnecessecarily show us videos that wasted class time. We had a lot of out of class assignments like: guest speaker, group project, a research sona study, and ropes course (yes, the ropes course behind Eppley. Who knew a mgmt class would force me to be physically fit/active?). Overall a poorly designed class that I'm glad is over. |

This is the best class that i have ever taken in the business school. I learned a lot while having fun doing it. I took the course during the summer, so it was more hours per session but i had a lot of fun. The course is easy if you read the chapters and look at the reviews at the back of the book. I would recommend this course even if it is not for a major requirement for your major. LOVED IT! |

Professor Wellman in my opinion is one of the best professors in the Smith School-He really knows how to teach and keeps his students engaged in the class. He's also a cool guy since he allows flexibility in doing classes whichever time you want despite the section you are registered for. I was registered for the 9:30am class but attended the 12:30 one throughout the entire semester (other than on the test days). The breakdown of his class: Inclass assignments every class(which are really there for participation points)-(it's like taking notes in class) Illiad Assessment A simulation 2 exams The final is comprehensive and you don't need to take it if u don't miss more than 4 classes-and that shouldn't be a problem since his classes are so interesting that you wouldn't wanna miss them. His tests are freaking easy-i only studied his powerpoints and never read the book other than the first chapter(the book seems interesting though). I don't think I studied more than 2 hours right b4 the exam and did pretty fair on the exams. If only I had studied a lil more I wouldve gotten a B on both exams and that wouldve been enuf for me to get an A in the class. I missed an A by 2% but I thought that was fair given the amount of work I put in for the class. Really interesting&easy class-great professor-the only thing is that Fall2010 was his last term for teaching bmgt 364:( He did say he was going to be teaching 364H though. |

The class was alright. You don't learn much about management. Wellman makes you go to every class, but 4 of them. TESTS are ridiculous!! I cannot stress that enough. You need to know every minute detail that are in the videos in order to succeed. DON'T BUY THE BOOK: YOU WILL NOT NEED IT! It is not a thinking test...it is pure memorization. Given this, half of the class does get As because of the other assignments throughout the semester. MAKE SURE TO TAKE EACH ONE SERIOUSLY. They will make or break your grade. Wellman doesn't truly care about any student in the class. He is slow to answer e-mails and very unresponsive at times. Luckily, there are other teachers to take besides him. He is not recommended. It is possible to do well in the class, but you will not get anything out of it. |

Overall a really interesting class. Can't stress how important it is to pay serious attention, because small details can come up on the test. You don't need the book at all, I never once looked at mine and I still got an A in the class... When studying for the exams, rewatch any videos you're unfamiliar with, they are fairgame for exam essays Great teacher overall, but terrible about getting grades back quickly. Make sure you know where your grades are coming from, there was an inclass assignment that was graded for accuracy and most people didn't realize it would be |

This is the one class that you truly should go to every class. Not to say the content is overly important, but you are graded on attendance. If you go to every class, you'll get about 23% of your overall grade for free and about 2% extra credit, PLUS you won't have to take the final. The tests are challenging especially if you don't take additional notes during the lectures. I made the mistake of just answering the in-class questions thinking that would be sufficient. You do have to do a lot of additional stuff, like a three hour business competency assessment and a group simulation project, but those are fairly painless. Overall, Wellman was a good enough Professor. I fell asleep every class but that was more due to it being at 9:30am because the videos he shows every class are pretty interesting. |

This guy is a great lecturer who shows a lot of interesting videos in class. There are in class assignments worth points, and a discussion section you should go to. Exams are very challenging. There are going to be a lot of multiple choice questions that make you think "lol what?" He offers 8 extra credit points in a semester, and you do need them. I got an A by 0.3 points, but i did average a C on exams. On a side note, this guy is really wordy. His syllabus is really long. Wellman is a nice guy though. You are exempted from his final if you miss 4 or less classes. Don't take his final. Its 150 MC and several essays in 2 hours. Punishment for people who skip class |

I don't work that hard, and I got an A in this class. Here's how: GO TO CLASS. The tests are challenging, so you need those clicker points. I found Wellman to be a boring dude, but the videos that he shows are interesting, so try to get into them, they will show up on the exams. The class is ALL memorization, so if you have trouble with that, don't wait until the last second to study everything - its a lot of info. I didn't have the textbook, I don't think anybody did, but after I took the exam I looked through a friends and realized that it had A LOT of relevent info in there. What a surprise, the textbook might help you. |

This course is academically rigorous. Wellman is a fair grader but his tests are miserable. However, you can easily make up for the tests with the other work in the class. Lectures are actually interesting because we watch videos instead of listening to Wellman talk the whole time. Whether it is because he is smart or too lazy to talk, I have not yet figured out - but it works out for the best either way. I could not think of a better teacher for the class. |

Just received an A in this course. Gave the professor a 5 even though i thought he was not very approachable because it does what a class is intended to do: teaches you and grades you based on that knowledge. some questions on the exam were a bit tricky but as long as you attend every lecture, do the few readings (do NOT need to read from the textbook do not know anyone who did), and study for about 3-6 hours, you will do fine. I honestly don't know who studied for 20 hours (like the person who posted above me) because either you skipped allt he classes and had to cram in the notes/readings last minute or youre just a SLOW learner. Go to class, do the 1 or 2 article readings a week (less than 30 min of reading a week), and just study for 3 hours before the exam. Guaranteed A. classes were fun/interesting |

Very good professor. Material is very interesting and you actually learn a lot of things that can be applied to real life. Things to note: 1) this class is by no means an easy A. you really have to study your butt off in order to do well on the two exams. (20+ hours) 2) very bad about grading. Getting grades back, TA's, and even fairness on certain things. 3) not very responsive. emails to him were addressed about 50% of the time and emails to TA's were addressed about 10% of the time. so if you have an issue with something - good luck. 4) you only go to fourfriday sections - one for team building, one for illiad, one for everest, and one for the first test (second one is in class). he understands students' want to not have friday discussions All in all, I recommend going to every class, taking a crapload of notes, studying hard for the exams, and try to get a lot out of it |

This class is interesting with good lecture content mixed in with videos. All of the content of the course is fairly interesting. The exams require extensive preparation if you do not keep up. Some of the questions come out of the pictures that he posts on the slides, so study them also. Overall for grade distributions it comes out to a 3.3 which is 41% A 52% B rest C D or F. Wellman is a great professor. The course is interesting, lectures are entertaining, and you can tell he genuinely enjoys teaching. The one problem I had with this class were the tests. The multiple choice questions were very difficult - even on topics that I had studied over and over and knew very well, the questions were still difficult because of how they are designed and worded. Almost all the questions had "A and B" or "All of the Above" answers which, in my opinion, just make the test "tricky" and don't do a good job of testing you on how well you understand the material. Despite the problems I had with the tests, I would recommend taking this class with Wellman. I still think I will get an A in the class because I attended all the lectures and discussions. Also, don't worry too much about the Iliad or Everest assignments. They are both a good amount of work, but not tough to score well on. Take Iliad seriously, the results are helpful. |

Professor Wellman is an amazing teacher. Here is my advice for the class: 1) Go to class, he gives points for attending, and he shows a lot of videos, 90% of which are pretty interesting. 2) Don't worry too much about taking notes, he posts the lectures after class. 3) Read the articles he gives you. They compile a good part of the tests. 4) Don't worry about the Illiad. Dress up, do your best, and attend the right meetings. Even if you do bad in the meetings/memos, you will get good grade for the assignment. Overall Wellman is great. I wish all classes were as interesting as his. |

GO TO CLASS! The in-class assignments(basically attendance)are about 25% of your grade. NEVER sign in for your friends, he tracks your handwriting and signature lol and you'll get in major trouble. Has a group type of project and an assessment of your managerial skills which sucks. 2 exams(50% of total grade) , mc and essays, do read the articles, the exam is prolly 70% based on them. The good thing is that if you average B on the exams, you get an A in the class. Final is optional if you missed less than 3 classes. Class is ok actually, lots of videos, pretty interesting at times. I learned a lot about real companies not just boring manag theory. |

I didn't like him at first, but by the end of the semester I really did enjoy his class. Don't be fooled by the 2-hour discussion, you never have to go to a 2-hour discussion the entire semester. Rather there are three project: challenge course, everest ,and iliad, that you have to do outside of lecture time and those count for the hours you would have spent in discussion instead. The class is pretty straightforward. You go to lecture take notes on the videos, so the in class assignment, and you'll be set for the exam. He puts up all his slides, articles, and video transcripts on blackboard so studying for the exam is that much easier. |

Fun and engaging course. I was dreading taking a course in 'management and organization' because it sounded boring and mind-numbing but Wellman is an alright guy. As long as you go to class and, as the other reviews suggest, take religious notes on the cool videos (most taken from YouTube) like one on the pornography industry and one on Whole Foods you'll do fine. Anticipate his test questions and don't try to copy down the slides during class (he doesn't post them before class but does afterward). Don't expect to ace the exams (pulled an 88 on the first one and am happy) but there are many other assignments offered. Discussion sections are almost never held because of fun activities (like climbing the ropes course and doing a simulation of an Everest climb). The Iliad assessment is not really fun but the class itself is engaging and completely grounded in the actual business world outside the walls of the Smith School. |
