The course is very easy and really should not take much time on a weekly basis to complete. McBryde seems to know this but is yet not ok with the fact that students are just trying to breeze by, and cares way too much about this filler class. She seems to think very highly of this class and is way too serious about this project that is not going to get us anywhere, and provides VERY passive aggressive feedback, and is annoying overall. I would not recommend taking her for this class as she is just going to make your life harder and more annoying.

Avoid taking HNUH300 with her at all costs. The other reviews may seem sympathetic towards her, however, her bias tends to leak heavily into the course content. It is indeed an easy class with plenty of time off which was the only redeeming quality of the class. I didn't find any of her quirks amusing and felt she was very unorganized and outright disrespectful when approaching students (or lack thereof). Take another professor for this course and save yourself the headache.

She's great and seems to want the best for us. However, I don't mince words when I say that this course is utterly useless. 7 weeks in and I still can't articulate what it's really about. We're developing a project...proposal? I suppose it's worth it if only to meet new people.

Something about Dr. Satelmajer rubs me the wrong way. She's a bit of a quirky individual, with a Ph.D. in English and a strong English teacher vibe. I felt that her background in English often seeped a little too far into the conduct of this course, which is supposed to be a capstone in the University Honors program. She sometimes expected us to be as passionate about certain things as she was, and graded some assignments a little harshly because we didn't think or construct it the way that she would have. Expectations weren't always clear. I wouldn't say I don't recommend her, because she's very kind and I could see that her quirks could be charming to others, but I personally did not find them that way. Regardless, she was very accommodating and available, and ultimately wanted all of us to succeed. The course is largely structured around taking on a project of your own, and I think this was structured pretty well. Also, about 50% of the class periods over the semester were cancelled because they simply weren't necessary and we were just working on our projects, which was really nice. I think other professors for Vantage Point would be a better experience, but she's not bad by any means.

He's the goat. Very enthusiastic and knows the class is just one people do to finish the UH citation, even letting us not have class for a whole month, but he really did connect our dumb project ideas to things that really could matter. His passion shined through and made the class better. I've also seen him in other classes with content he is interested in teaching and man, I wish I took some of those. Take Dr. Graham if you can. 5/5!

Dr. McReynolds is the kindest professor that I have ever had. She gave us so much creative liberty with our projects and was genuinely interested in each and every single one of them. If you have the opportunity to take her at all while she's still UMD, you won't regret it.

As stated with the other review, HNUH300 doesn't really have much to do and was pretty boring overall, and Dr. Graham managed to keep only the vital assignments, which were small and manageable. Outside of the class's work, Dr. Graham hyped all of us up and wanted us to seriously consider finishing the projects we had ideas on, so that was a nice vibe that I appreciated. Also his taste in music is pretty dope. Definitely support taking this course with him.

DO NOT TAKE HNUH300 WITH ANYONE ELSE. I can't speak for her other classes, but the way she teaches 300 is amazing as you still get a lot out of the class without pointless busywork and annoying assignments. The best professor in UH I've had thus far. She genuinely cares about her students. God bless this woman.

This prof took the class seriously but didn't make it any harder. Gave good feedback

While the class itself is largely useless, Riva made it very engaging and had me looking forward to each class as she always had something interesting planned for us to learn about and discuss. She is extremely willing to incorporate feedback from students about how to improve the course and make it more fulfilling for students despite the limitations set by the department. Her lectures often included little tangents about her fish research which made them all the more interesting as you could easily tell how passionate she is about her work and made me wish I could take more classes with her despite being in an entirely different major.

Professor Franco was very nice, but it was clear that she only really enjoyed talking about the things that she was interested in. Several classes were dedicated to how she received her book deal (not related to the course), and it was clear from her tone and behavior when she didn't like a particular group's ideas. Additionally, she is not responsive to emails (both through gmail and through canvas). She is clearly passionate about her work and her other classes, but I don't think she was as happy to be teaching this course.

I appreciated Dr. Graham this semester. This class was really boring and was a requirement for the University Honors program, and I think Dr. Graham did the best he could to make it engaging and interesting. He didn't overcomplicate this, gave good feedback on assignments, and treated this course like how it was supposed to. Couldn't really ask for anything more.

easy teacher, rather boring though. Hate his voice. The worst thing he did was randomly tie in Karl Marx into a lesson for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't recommend him but I also wouldn't advise against him.

Highly recommend you choose another professor. She makes you do triple the work compared to other HNUH300 professors. She is passive aggressive and very serious about what is supposed to be a gateway course. The class goes by painfully slow and it's only 50 minutes. Choose another professor if you can.

She was very kind and accommodating. I have turned in stuff late before on accident and she did not care or deduct points. Most of the class was on zoom or canceled. Most of the complaints I've heard about this class are because of the design of it and have nothing to do with the professors teaching it. It's a very redundant class because of the content which is annoying, but she tried to skip over the repetitive parts.
