Mary Harms BMGT457 Expecting a B Anonymous 12/02/2022	I'm sure Harms used to be a great professor, and while her class includes such crucial marketing info, she's just not the best person to be teaching it. There's SO much work in and out of class and she does not do a great job explaining what she is looking for. After many doing many case studies in class, she decided towards the end of the semester to give bad grades on all without previously giving feedback that could've helped my group improve. There are a ton of videos to watch before class that contain content for her "exams". Her exams are quizzes that have a super short time limit and she'll ask questions about the most random info she mentions in a 45 minute long video. Save yourself the trouble and take this class with a different professor who can give more clear assignment directions and won't give exams every two weeks that don't actually test on class content, but on random content she thinks is important.
Mary Harms BMGT484 Anonymous 03/09/2022	Such a nice and experienced professor. Her industry knowledge is really rich and valuable. The con would be that most of the time I found myself having run ins when it came to assignment directions. These directions were not clear or concise and when I asked for further direction it contradicted what she had stated in the directions. This happened quite frequently and it was really frustrating. Course load is moderate tp high. A huge absence in lectures which did not help at all when it came to preping for exams. "Lectures" included guest speakers.
Mary Harms BMGT484 Anonymous 02/21/2022	Very nice and knowledgeable in this field. However, I felt like I had to scramble a lot throughout the class to figure out what was going on. Barely taught any of the content needed for the exams, rather it was all placed on slides. Provides study guides but they barley mirror the exam.
Mary Harms BMGT484 Expecting an A Haflarkity 04/25/2013	Professor Harms is a fantastic professor. She isn't your run of the mill professor who lectures, gives exams and group projects. She really engages the class and genuinely cares about her students. I would recommend getting to know her well, she is really insightful and eager to help you in any way. I am really glad I took the course too--it was very interesting and relevant to many majors.
Mary Harms Expecting a B Anonymous 01/10/2013	Professor Harms is incredibly nice and very knowledgable on the subject. Her class is very interesting and the work is never too much to handle. The only reason I wont give her 5 stars is that I felt it was very difficult to figure what was going to be on the exams. Even though she gave us a study guide of all of the important points of the chapter, there were numerous slides that had no words on them, so unless you got the important info (which was hard sometimes if she moved to fast) you were ut of luck. That said I am gladly taking her again next semester and would do this class with her again.
Mary Harms BMGT484 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/15/2012	Super lady. Real nice and will occasionally cancel class for reasons such as "its too nice out" or "spring break is almost here anyway". study guides for all multiple choice finals. takes attendance but pretty chill class.
Mary Harms BMGT451 Expecting an A Qing 07/11/2011	Harms is one the best professor I had at Maryland. I really enjoyed her class. As long as you read the book and articles, you should be fine. She loves students participating in the class. I think the book is very interesting and easy to read. She also has a few short papers for student to write, it they are all pretty easy. Highly recommend if you want to take BMGT451.
Mary Harms BMGT451 Expecting an A llustig 06/04/2010	Professor Harms is not only a great professor, she is a really nice person. Her class was interesting and really tied into the real world. She expects you to read the book and participate in class but I really didn't find that difficult. She made me want to learn and I could really tell she wanted everyone to do well and learn in her class. Definitely take her if you are a marketing major.
